This week mamaME meets Lucinda, owner of Nurturing Mums. Nurturing Mums offer postnatal course in various London locations - if you're a London mama or mama to be then you definitely need to check them out!
Tell us a bit about yourself:
I’m the youngest of 6. I got married when I was 23…which seems pretty young now I think about it! I am a qualified lawyer, love champagne/wine/you name it… although less so right now as I have a toddler and am currently a month away from having baby no.2!
How do you find juggling mama hood and running your own business?
The juggle is real - although it’s easier now than 2 years ago when I was starting out. That has largely been due to being able to structure my time better with childcare, a small team around me and an office based outside home. I still pretty much only work mornings (and *some / *most evenings) working… whereas the afternoons are mine and my toddlers.
Tell us about your your business, nurturing mums:
We run 5 week postnatal courses for mums with babies 0-9m in London, We currently are based in 9 locations and are all about supporting women who have just becoming mothers in order to be able to make friends, feel confident and not judged about their parenting style - just offer practical, supportive tips. Our 5 week course covers: sleep, weaning, first aid and baby development tips… plus a chance to have a hot cup of coffee and find your girl gang of course.
We offer something practical, bespoke and tailored to mums and their individual babies’ needs.
What do you enjoy most about running your own business?
Freedom. I can say no if I want to, can have a nap if I need to and can make those sports days, parents’ evenings and all those other things I would have struggled to do as a full time lawyer.
Where can people find out more about nurturing mums?
We have a website where you can book courses - nurturingmumsuk.com/courses - and we are on instagram and Facebook too!
Thank you for taking time out to chat with us Lucinda. We can't wait to check out the store when it opens!
